Eric Dargent, French Adaptive Surfing Champion for the third time
He scored a hat-trick. Already winner in 2015 and 2016, Eric Dargent was crowned French adaptive surfing champion for the third consecutive time !
Eric Dargent, fitted with our sport prosthetic knee Easy Ride, dominated the championship with some remarkable scores on a few waves. He did this with a major competition compared to the previous years. After the championship, as the French Surfing Federation asked him about his secret, he evoked his preparation and also mentioned “the development of the material : the prosthesis I’m using helps me a lot”.
Eric Dargent has been dominating this competition since it was created, three years ago. It helped to bring more attention on the Adaptive Surfing movement in France, a discipline officially recognized by the International Paralympic Committee and that could be part of the next Olympic Games and maybe for Paris 2024. “I’m here to develop surfing among disabled people”, he said, “and show that there are a lot of cool things to do. The relief is coming. This year, there was more people than the previous one. Espcially with the girls. I hope this will continue and that the level will rise! ”.
For Eric Dargent, the year is not over. In a few days, he’ll be participating to the 2017 ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship. Last year, in San Diego, he ranked 2nd and became the vice-world champion. This time, he aims at the first place. PROTEOR wishes him good luck!
